At the foot of the bridge of Los Santos, from its small fishing port you will enjoy a picture-perfect view. This serene and privileged town has a long fishing and canning tradition, weakened in favour of today's most important industry, shipbuilding, whose first references in this enclave date back to the 17th century. Its steep streets serve as a transition between the seafaring houses, in the lower part of the town, and the wealthier ones, in the watchtower.
Take a stroll around its viewpoints, the charming port - the centre of social and economic life and surrounded by small coves -, the Fishermen's Guild building, the Clock Tower and the chapel of San Román, built in the 19th century at the expense of the Sailors' Guild. And take advantage of the walk to see the Pardo Donlebún palace and the Peñalba Palace, built in the early 20th century by the military architect Ángel Arbex, one of Gaudí's disciples, and which integrates Art Nouveau into Indian architecture.
Figueras could well be considered the pearl of the Eo because this charming little port that bathes in this estuary - the natural border between Asturias and Galicia - has all the ingredients of a real gem.
It is sunny and luminous, like a fairy tale, and the possibilities it has for water sports and for enjoying both the estuary and the sea are immense.
In Figueras everything is just a stone's throw away. It is a peaceful and comfortable place, ideal for relaxing, for strolling, for chatting, for enjoying the coast, the architecture and, of course, the best seafood cuisine, because in Figueras the aroma of good seafood stew beats in the air.
The terraces of the port, the palaces with panoramic views, the shipyard, the jetties overlooking the perched Castropol and the immensity of the Eo estuary, the proximity of paradisiacal beaches... Everything in Figueras invites you to let yourself be carried away by the charm of a town that will not leave you indifferent.
