Stage 12: A Caridá - A Veiga 25.6 Kms

We leave A Caridá and descend until we cross the Salgueiro stream and then ascend until we reach the N-634 road. Turn towards Os Carballoes to reach Valdepares. Continuing along the road, we descend the valley of the river Porcía, through El Morillo and A Canteira. Cross the river and enter the municipality of Tapia de Casariego. At Venta de Porcía we return to the original path and climb up to Celleiro and La Cruz de la Caleya. Here there is a branch towards Tapia (hostel) and another along the coastal rasa towards El Picón. Continue along the latter and it joins the road to San Julián.

We continue to the left along a track to As Pontes del Cabillón and El Coutado. From here we go to Brul, and to Barrionuevo, where we join the local road to Tol, where we will find a hostel if we want to divide the stage. The road forks in the direction of Castropol and Figueras, towns from which the river used to be crossed by boat to Ribadeo. Nowadays it is possible to cross the river Eo via the Bridge of Los Santos, between Figueras and Ribadeo, but before its existence, the only option on foot was via Vegadeo, a route that we will follow. We continue from Castropol away from the coast to Péligos, in the direction of La Venta and Lantoira. After passing through A Casía and Presa, we reach the La Galea bridge and the centre of A Veiga/Vegadeo.
