Stage 2: La Pola Siero - Oviedo/Uviéu 17.1 Kms

From La Pola Siero to El Berrón and along the avenue of Los Campones and Oviedo/Uviéu, we leave towards El Carbayal, Fonciello, Meres and Granda, passing here between the parish church and the cemetery. This area is close to industrial estates and is markedly semi-urban in character.

The Llugarín marks out the route until we reach the medieval bridge of Colloto/Cualloto, where the route enters the Camino Concejil street to come out onto the N-634 and enter Oviedo/Uviéu via Cerdeño and the streets of La Tenderina Alta and La Baja.

From here to Campo La Vega, Calle Azcárraga, San Vicente, Corrada del Obispo, Tránsito de Santa Bárbara and Catedral de El Salvador, with the Holy Chamber, the destination - along with Santiago de Compostela - of the most important pilgrimages in the Middle Ages after Jerusalem and Rome.

The development of the pilgrimages was a determining factor in the demographic and cultural enrichment of Oviedo/Uviéu, as well as in the expansion of its services and its transformation from a royal and ecclesiastical city into a somewhat universal city.
