The museum, housed in the historic Valdés Salas Mansion Tower, dating from the 14th century, displays a valuable collection of Pre-Romanesque carvings from the Church of San Martín (9th-10th C.) located one kilometre from the town of Salas.
These carvings are a sample of the decorative and artistic richness of the Asturian workshops of the time.
