This great architectural complex in the surroundings of the Avilés estuary is the only work of the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in Spain. Music, cinema, theatre, dance, exhibitions and the spoken word are the protagonists of a multidisciplinary cultural programme with a common denominator: excellence. The centre is made up of the following spaces:
Auditorium
A democratic stalls area, without boxes. It has a capacity of almost a thousand seats, all with the same visibility and identical acoustic conditions.
The stage of the Auditorium stands out for its sound qualities, as well as its size and functionality, as it can open out onto the square and offer shows for up to ten thousand people.
The foyer, with more than 500 square metres, serves as a temporary photography exhibition hall.
The Sala Club is the perfect showcase to enjoy live independent music and the most avant-garde theatre proposals.
Mirador Tower
Built at a height of 13 metres, access is on foot via a spectacular staircase around the base or by lift.
There are no guided tours of the Torre Mirador, it is only accessible if you are going to use the restaurant.
Dome
The Dome is a large space of around four thousand square metres dedicated to exhibitions and various artistic activities.
Multi-purpose building
It houses the reception, the Cinema Hall (with a capacity for one hundred people in which original version films are shown), two multi-purpose rooms and a cafeteria.
The Plaza
An extensive area of twenty-two thousand square metres designed to blend in with the surroundings, accessible to the public and conceived to host a variety of leisure and cultural activities. The Plaza is the ideal space for recreation and learning for children and families, providing the setting for sporting competitions and offering a varied open-air cultural programme.
