An exhibition on the life and work of Severo Ochoa and his relationship to Luarca

The permanent exhibition devoted to one of the most famous Asturians, Severo Ochoa, the Nobel Prize laureate for Medicine born in Valdés, is housed in Gamoneda Mansion, dating from 18th century.

Through panels with photographs and projections, this centre reviews the life of the scientist and his wife, Carmen, the great supporter of Severo Ochoa throughout his lifetime. The centre features a re-creation of the desk where he worked and other personal items, but the most impressive feature is the video in which the scientist's voice can be heard.

Each year, Valdés Town Council organizes a Science Week at this centre under the direction of Margarita Salas, one of his pupils.
