Info
In the heart of western Asturias, in the lands of the ferreiros, the church of San Martín, the parish church of Taramundi, rises up slenderly. It is a building with three naves whose tower, at the foot, was rebuilt in the 18th century, very tall, square and massive. It has an openwork bell tower with four arches, as well as a clock and a niche that houses the stone image of San Martín Obispo, the titular saint of the church.
The temple conserves four altarpieces, all gilded and polychrome, two of them, the one of Christ Crucified and the one of the Dolorosa, are twins, in Rococo-Neoclassical style, made at the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century. The main altarpiece dates from the 17th century.
