Exemplary village of Asturias 2011, on the banks of the river Eo and a stage on the Primitive Way of St. James. The natural landscape and morphology of San Tirso de Abres are marked by the river Eo, which gives them shape and beauty, turning them into lush gallery forests and shaping a splendid river valley with its fertile meadows and the flow of the longed-for Eo. This river is famous for its salmon, trout and sea trout catches, with its crystalline waters over slate bottoms where the songs sound when rolling and the frogs when croaking, those that can be seen from the old fishermen's refuge of Xesteira, which is accessed by a suspension bridge...
The Eo flows through the landscape of this riverside enclave that is nicknamed "the pearl of the Eo", being accessible in the river walk of O Chao and its recreational area, symbolic places of the peaceful life of this always welcoming village that offers the visitor a recovered and well preserved historical and artistic heritage visible in the chapels of San Juan, San Isidro and Santa Apolonia and in the Church of San Salvador.
