Frexulfe Beach Natural Monument
- Title Navia Western Asturias
Frexulfe Beach, declared a Natural Monument, an area of protected species.
Info
This is the beach par excellence of the nearby fishing village of Puerto de Vega.
It is 700 metres long and at its eastern end, the only one where bathing is advisable, is the mouth of a stream. Its easy access makes it particularly important to make an effort to conserve it.
It has a field of dunes fixed by a pine grove, in which marine animals have been stranded on occasion, dragged by the current. The dunes are populated by different natural species that are protected or in danger of extinction. One of the few Cantabrian populations of the phanerogam Othantus Maritimus can be found in its waters.
