GR208 - Central Mountain Cycle Ring
The GR-208 Central Mountains Cycling Circuit starts in Llosalín Sports Area (Güeñu/Bueño) and takes the riverside path bordering the Nalón and the sports and recreational area heading down to the bank of the river, which you cross to then ride uphill to the village of Palombar, following the PR-240 Riverside Trail.
From Palombar, you then continue along the trail traced by the network of lanes leading to the neighbourhood of La Villa. From there, you take the tarmacked lane to Fuexos, from where a concrete track heads up to the Casa del Malato fork. Take the left fork, which continues to be paved in concrete, until you get to La Mortera.
The trail now heads into the valley down a very steep slope that leads to Campo de Peñerúes.
In Peñerúes, the GR-208 leaves the PR-143 Angliru Trail to take the secondary road from Los Duernos to San Xuan de La Piñera, where the GR once again goes cross country passing above El Vallín and following a series of very technical, cross-country sections to finish in La Vara.
You pass through the upper part of the village of La Vara to then take the dirt road once again, passing through muddy areas such as that of La Salguera, before arriving in Carbayosa and passing through the village along the main road.
From there, you can access the MO-1 road coming from Busloñe on the way to the road that goes up to El Angliru (RI-5). This is a paved stretch about 3,600 metres in length that allows you to gain about 100 metres in elevation without much problem, thus concluding the first stage of the Central Mountains Cycling Circuit.

The GR-208 "Anillo Ciclista de la Montaña Central" starts from the Llosalín Sports Area in Güeñu/Bueño (Ribera de Arriba) and takes the riverside path that borders the River Nalón and the sports and recreational area looking for the river bank, which is crossed to go up to the village of Palombar, following the route of the PR-240 of the Senda Fluvial (Riverside Path).
From Palombar, the route follows the local paths to the La Villa neighbourhood and from here we share the asphalted track to Fuexos, from where we leave along a concreted track until we reach the fork at the Casa del Malato, where we take the left branch that continues concreted until we reach La Mortera.
The route now heads towards the valley, to face a steep ramp that leads to the Campo de Peñerúes.
In Peñerúes the GR-208 leaves the PR-143 "Ruta del Angliru" and follows the local road from Los Duernos to San Xuan in the parish of La Piñera (Morcín), where the GR returns to the dirt tracks passing over El Vallín, with a succession of very technical and "trial" sections until it ends in La Vara.
At La Vara we cross the village at the top to take the dirt track again which, passing through muddy areas such as La Salguera, arrives at La Carbayosa, where we cross the village on the main road.
From here we reach the MO-1 road that comes from Busloñe (Morcín), on the way to the road that climbs up to the Angliru (RI-5). This is an asphalted section of about 3,600 metres in length that allows us to gain about 100 metres in altitude without any major problems, thus concluding the first stage of the Central Mountain Cycle Route.
