Careses - Careses 14,6

This circular route is located in the parish of Samartino and visits thirteen different rural villages, as well as numerous springs. As interesting facts about the route we can say that most of the paths are old, that flying over the crag we can see some Egyptian vultures and that it is cyclable for most of its route, except for about 200 metres.

Once we are situated, we start the route along the path on the right, without deviating from it. There are two crossroads, where we turn left to continue along the path.

This is not the complete PR, but only part of it, as the start of the PR is from El Rebollar, in La Pola Siero, near the municipal swimming pools.

The first kilometre and a half after starting the route, there is a crossroads on the left, but we continue straight on. A few metres further on, the climb begins and we come to a beautiful fountain called Fuente de les Xanes.
Very close to this point is also the mouth of the La Viona tunnel, which is more than 1 kilometre long, the remains of an old railway project that used to go to Gijón/Xixón. It is a dangerous pass.

At kilometre 2.4 there is a turning to the right, but we continue on our way to the left. Further on, there are also numerous junctions, but we continue straight on without turning off at any of them.

At kilometre 4 from the start of the route, we come to another crossroads, which crosses the AS-248 road, which we cross to take a path that will take us to the village of Muncó/Mucó. A few metres further on, turn right.

About 500 metres further on, we turn off onto a path to the left and stay on it.

After approximately 300 metres, kilometre 4.8, we turn right to follow the path that runs parallel to the AS-248, approaching the village of Muncó/Mucó. A little further on, turn slightly to the right and then to the left, so as not to come out onto the road.

At kilometre 6.4, we turn left, and a few metres further on, to the right.

Further on, the Muncó/Mucó descent continues, but at the crossroads you come to, always choose the left-hand branch.

At the end of the descent, after 2 kilometres we come to the village of La Cabaña, and we come to a street called La Cuesta, where we turn right, and a little further on we cross the AS-248 again.

La Cuesta street continues straight on, but after a few metres we turn off onto a path on the left which will take us to Llugarín, a kilometre away.

When you reach Llugarín, turn left and follow this road without turning off until you come to a house, where you turn left again and continue straight on.

We will have walked about 11 kilometres from the start of the route, and at this point there is a fork, where we choose to take the branch to the right. Two kilometres further on, we take the path to the left.

We continue downhill and, at kilometre 13.6, the uphill path takes us to the village of Careses. A few metres further on, turn left and continue straight on.

Almost at the end of the route, there are crossroads, where we turn right to go back to the starting point of the route.
