PR168
In a land of novels, where the great playwright Alejandro Casona made his way to life, between mountains of all colours as the annual cycle approaches its twilight, a track leads us between chestnut trees and pastures, between pines and birches, next to the river at the bottom of the valley, before climbing up to the crest of the sierra, from where we can see a wide landscape of mountains and distant forests.
Mills, forges and cuerrias for preserving chestnuts are ethnographic remnants of a different life, replaced today by wooden saws, but still with livestock and the harvesting of chestnuts, hazelnuts and walnuts from the farms near Bisuyu.
The evening light fills the tops of the deciduous trees with gold, contrasting with the green pines as if it were a landscape of gold and emeralds.
A simple walk that we can do in either direction, enjoying the silence, the tranquillity, the landscape and the pure air that the lichens of the high area indicate.
Bisuyu - Bisuyu 11,2
This circular route starts in the village of Bisuyu, near the house where Alejandro Casona was born. It is a route that takes us through the lower part of the valley and brings us through the mountains. We leave the village to the west, ascending as we go.
After a few metres, approximately 300 metres, we start to walk parallel to the course of the river Pumar through a riverside wood.
At kilometre 3.5, we start to zigzag up a slope that will gradually increase. Half a kilometre further on is the steepest slope of the route, which continues for 400 metres.
After about 7 kilometres, we reach the highest point of the route. From here onwards we descend the rest of the way back to Bisuyu. Three kilometres and a few metres further on, we reach the village of Bisuyu again, the starting and end point of our route.
Suitable for mountain biking (it runs on tracks and dirt roads).
