Pezós/Pesoz - A Paicega 6,35

This short route starts in the municipal capital, Pezós/Pesoz, where we leave our car. A few metres from the start, we begin the ascent along a track surrounded by a large, leafy forest of oak and chestnut trees in the lower part and pine plantations in the upper part.

After just 1.300 kilometres, we come to a crossroads, where we take the right-hand branch. A little further on, the track joins a road, with little traffic, which will take us to the village of Sanzo.

After one kilometre, we shall come to several crossroads, but we shall continue straight on without turning off the road that passes close to the village. At kilometre 3.15, the route continues along a track in good condition, signposted by a detour, the AS-12, which will take us to A Paicega.

After another kilometre, you will discover an old village built in the mid-20th century to house the workers who built the imposing Salime reservoir dam. Today it is an uninhabited place, whose architecture stands the test of time and gives you a glimpse of what life was like for that group, as you can still see some buildings such as the barracks used as dwellings, the church and the remains of a cable car.

The site of this settlement, on a hillside that slopes down towards the reservoir, offers splendid views of the river Navia and the surrounding mountain ranges in the area.

At kilometre 4.5, once we have enjoyed this beautiful village, we shall proceed along the final part of the route until we return to Sanzo along the previous track, the AS-12.
