Collado de la Farrapona - Lago de la Cueva - Lago Cerveriz - Lago Calabazosa - Lago Valle - Valle de Lago

Alto de la Farrapona (Saliencia Lakes) - Valle de Lago (Lake Valley) 14

We start the route at the Alto de la Farrapona in Somiedo, which we reach via the AS-15, towards Cangas del Narcea. When we reach Samartín we take the AS-227 towards Pola de Somiedo and after passing La Riera take the SD-1 as far as possible to Saliencia and finally link up with the SO-2 to the Alto.

Once there we take a downhill track, from which we can see a beautiful panoramic view of the upper part of the Saliencia Valley, reaching the lake of La Cueva, whose waters are coloured by the spillages from the mining operations that took place in the surrounding area.

We continue along the mine track, which climbs steeply until we pass by the lake of La Mina, which is dry in the summer months. Soon we see the Cerveriz meadow and the lake of the same name on the left. In the background we can see Los Albos (2,109 m.).

We retrace our steps and continue towards Vegas de Camayor leaving the Cerveriz lake on our left. When we reach a hut we can climb up to a hill from where we continue halfway up the slope until we can see the Lago del Valle.

We return to the hut and continue along the Cerveriz plain in a NW direction until we reach a slightly ascending track that leads to a hill to the north. From there we can see the Vega de Camayor, with small lakes.

We continue in the same direction until we reach Llomba de Camayor, from where we can see the crests of Peña Llana, Cebolléu and Picos Albos. At the end of the plain there is a large crag where the route turns to the left and starts a slight descent until we soon come in sight of Lago del Valle, the deepest lake in Asturias.

We go back the way we came until the end of Cerveriz Lake to ascend a little and see Calabazosa Lake or Black Lake. We descend towards the lake, skirting it on the right, and after a slight ascent, we can see Lake La Cueva. We border it halfway down the slope and descend in search of the track that will take us to La Farrapona.
