This is why we bring you four magnificent proposals from the Asturian Manor House Quality Club, an initiative of hotel excellence that brings together charming establishments. And a way of understanding tourism that has lasted for 25 years. There must be a reason for this.

The West to be discovered: Prelo Palace

In the complex of western Asturias, located in the municipality of Boal, we find the Palacio de Prelo, a beautiful four-star rural hotel. For five years, with infinite patience, a palace house dating from the 16th century was restored, with exceptional views over the Navia river valley and the Sierra de la Cristaleira mountain range.

In a quiet and peaceful environment, surrounded by nature, the visitor moves to the heart of the Navia-Porcía region where, in addition to enjoying the splendid scenery, you can visit numerous interesting historical and prehistoric remains (Coaña, Chao San Martín and Pendia forts). Or you can go on excursions on foot or on horseback, or canoe in the calm waters of the Arbón reservoir. And, of course, you can enjoy unforgettable breakfasts with quality honey, the most typical product of Boal.

Palacio de la Viñona, Oviedo/Uviéu a stone's throw away

In the vicinity of the Asturian capital, Oviedo/Uviéu, nothing could be easier than to arrive at an 18th century setting but with all the modern comforts and then some. The four-star hotel Palacio de la Viñona is unique. Just a few minutes away from the vibrant cultural, gastronomic and leisure offer of Oviedo, it is located in the quiet town of Colloto. There is an excellent possibility for families: special quadruple room.

La Viñona is a very interesting option to get to know the capital or to make a luxury stop on the Camino de Santiago, with an obligatory visit to the Cathedral, origin of the northern route, where you can admire the famous relics of its Holy Chamber.

The warmth of the fireplace at Cutre Palace

Situated on the southern slope of the Sierra del Sueve, halfway between the sea and the mountains, this ancient Asturian palace from the 16th century dominates the valley of the council of Piloña, a stately mansion in the middle of an 18,000 square metre estate. Sumptuous and elegant rooms and rooms to spend a few days that we will tell our friends about.

Who doesn't want to relax in a lounge, in the warmth of the fireplace and a large window from where you can see the centenary oak tree of which they are so proud? Or stroll through the well-tended gardens?

And to feel like kings, the Palacio de Cutre offers the El Nogal suite, a 90 square metre duplex with a very bright living-dining room, the only balcony in the building and a large wood-burning fireplace. On the upper floor of the suite, two independent bedrooms and a bathroom with hydromassage.

The Cutre Palace has double, triple and quadruple rooms with breakfast included. Let's not forget its gastronomy either: the dining room located in the palace's old "llagar" serves the best of Asturian products with a modern and surprising elaboration.

The location of this exquisite hotel allows you to enjoy experiences for all tastes. From here it is easy to access excursions to the famous Naranjo de Bulnes and the Sierra del Sueve. In the latter there is an interpretation centre offering information about the beautiful beech forests, the yew forests and the local fauna.

Nearby we also find the picturesque village of Llastres, Exemplary Village 2010, the Ethnographic Museum of Porrúa; the Jurassic Museum, with spectacular views and its peculiar building in the shape of a dinosaur footprint and we have easy access to the sanctuary of Cuadonga/Covadonga and dozens of interesting routes for walkers.

Flórez Estrada Palace: seclusion and a host of activities in a nature park

If you are a lover of silence and tranquillity, the Flórez Estrada Palace is an excellent option. This is what the owners say: "Our priority is silence and your rest. There is no television available in the rooms or in any other room in the building. Wifi only in common areas".

And that's not all, because this mansion located in the fantastic Natural Park of Somiedo has a peculiar history.

The mansion has its origins in the 15th century, although the tower, perfectly preserved today, probably belongs to the low medieval period. It was the birthplace (and later the resting place) of the illustrious economist Álvaro Flórez Estrada.

The manor house is surrounded by a garden with centenary trees, a river with clear waters and a meadow. The owners have cleverly renovated and modernised the house, which has seven double rooms, two single rooms and a special double room. In the old stables and haystacks they have installed flats, preserving part of the original structure and all the comforts.

In short, it is a comfortable hotel, of course, but much more, since it has the Flórez Estrada Rural School, inspired by the Asturian sage.

Numerous activities and events throughout the year make this one of the many options offered by Casonas Asturianas even more attractive, for example, workshops on different themes, games and storytelling and poetry evenings , introduction to ornithology, courses on wild plants...

In addition, and of course, being located in the Natural Park of Somiedo, the routes on foot or on horseback are almost a must. It is the perfect place to enjoy with the family, with accessible and well signposted trails from which you can observe the peculiar constructions or "teitos", livestock huts protected for their uniqueness.

There is also an interpretation centre for the Somiedo Natural Park and the bear's house, as well as a set of fairytale lakes. And, of course, you can enjoy the typical gastronomy of Asturias: fabada, cachopo de ternera "roxa" somedana, pote de berzas... all accompanied by cider. The perfect plan for this autumn.
