Popular tradition places the origins of this festival in the early 16th century, setting it apart from other known celebrations called "fiestas de prao." One of its central events is the only livestock fair held in the municipality of Pravia, which is also one of the oldest in all of Asturias.
The festival also features the Bolo Batiente championship, oxen dragging, horse ribbon race, and a sung Mass in Asturian language, accompanied by bagpipe music.
One of the most striking aspects of this celebration is its ability to endure over time, overcoming various challenges and social changes, while still showcasing the authenticity and purity of rural Asturias amidst the incomparable beauty of the Arango Valley.
Over the years and until today, La Ponte has been organized as a festival for everyone. There is a livestock market, along with various activities and entertainment for all to enjoy.
