The streets and corners of Cangues are adorned with Asturian flags, banners, thousands of people wearing traditional costumes, folk groups, bagpipe bands, and a lot of excitement. Fireworks mark the beginning of a day of celebration that includes mass, a procession, and the auctioning of the "ramu" (offering of flowers and bread), where the vermouth session and meals with family and friends from all over the world become a renewed ritual every year.
Both in Cangues d'Arriba and in the city center, the festivities continue until the early hours of the morning, and an important aspect is the hospitality of the people of Cangues, where no one feels like a stranger or excluded from the celebration.
On the previous night, in the oak grove near the chapel of San Antonio, the famous "joguera" takes place, and it is quite a spectacle to witness the impressive leaps over the fire by locals and visitors.
