Feast of San Antonio de Padua in Cangas de Onís

Cangues d'Onís/Cangas de Onís hosts the Fiestas of San Antonio de Padua on 13 June.

As every year, the procession takes place from the chapel of San Antonio to the church of Santa María, where mass is celebrated.

At the end of the mass, the image makes its way back to the chapel, accompanied by all those who come to the celebration, followed by a lively pilgrimage in the Robledal de San Antonio.

The festivities begin with a parade of the bagpipe band, accompanied by giants and big-heads. After the parade it is time for the proclamation and the official presentation of the queen and ladies of honour in the Town Hall square.

Friday 5th. The proclamation

• 19:30 h: Parade of giants and big-heads accompanied by "La Bandina Tradicional Bricial Cangas de Onís".
• 20:00 h: In the Town Hall square, "El Pregón", organised by the Town Council of Cangas de Onís, by Rebeca Santamaría Fernández and presented by Ángel Lueje. Presentation of the Queen and Maids of Honour of the Fiestas. Performances by the Asociación Folclórica Picos de Europa, Bandina Tradicional Bricial Cangas de Onís, Coro Peñasanta-Ramón Prada, Coro de Emburria and students from the Municipal Music School, all from Cangas de Onís.
• 23:00 h: Verbena in the Robledal, with performances by: Orquesta Saudade and DJ Dani Viettes.
• Saturday 6th
• 23:00 h: Verbena in the Robledal, with performances by: Grupo La Última Legión, Avalle Van and Abel SM DJ.

Sunday 7th. Children's day

• 17:00 h: In the courtyard of the Reconquista School, with a giant amusement park, crafts and games.
• Pensioners' Day
• 19:00 h: In the Town Hall square, pilgrimage with: "Josín y su acordeón".

Friday 12. La Joguera

• 18:00 h: Parade of bagpipers, giants and big-heads accompanied by Bandina Tradicional Bricial Cangas de Onís.
• 00:00 h: In the Robledal de la Capilla de San Antoniu, "La Joguera". One hour before, the verbena begins with: Pontevedra Orchestra and Ethan Meré DJ.

Saturday 13. San Antoniu

• 09:00 h: Great voladores discharge announcing the beginning of the big day.
• 10:00 h: Mass in the Chapel of San Antoniu.
• 10:30 h: Descent of the Saint in procession to the Parish Church of Santa María.
• 12:00 h: Solemn Mass in the Parish Church, sung by the Peñasanta-Ramón Prada Choir.
• 13:00 h: Procession of the Saint to his chapel in the Robledal, followed by "Auction of the ramu and burning of the xigante" and performance by the AF Picos de Europa. Tables and chairs will be available at the bar.
• 18:00 h: The pilgrimage begins and continues with the verbena, with performances by: Pontevedra Orchestra and Ethan Meré DJ.

Saturday 20th

• 23:00 h: Verbena in the bus station car park, with: Orquesta Cuarta Calle and Suarezz DJ.

Sunday 21. The jira

• 17:00 h: In the bus station car park, distribution of the bollu and bottle of wine for members.
• The party bar will have tables and chairs available to organise the picnic of the jira in the same place as the distribution.
• 23:00 h: Verbena enlivened by: Orquesta Nuevo Tango and Suarezz DJ.
• 00:00 h: At the Roman Bridge: Fireworks by Pibierzo Pyrotechnics from León.
• 00:30 h: Continuation of the verbena.
