In order to protect the Picos de Europa National Park, an access plan to the Covadonga Lakes has been designed to ensure the sustainability of this unique enclave. This plan regulates access on peak days.

Access to Lagos de Covadonga

The only access authorised for private vehicles to access the Covadonga Lakes is the CO-4 road. However, in order to ensure the sustainability of this unique enclave, during peak seasons a special public transport system is in place and access to private vehicles is prohibited 24 hours a day.

On dates when there is no restriction, access will be permitted, although the National Park Administration, in application of its conservation regulations, may implement a complementary regulation if the access road is blocked or in the event of saturation of the car parks located near the lakes.

On what dates is access restricted in 2025?

April: 05-06 and 12 to 30
May: 01 to 04 and weekends: 10-11, 17-18, 24-25 & 31
