Asturcón Festival or the celebration of an indigenous breed
Info
The Asturcón is the quintessential Asturian horse. For decades, it has been bred and raised freely in the Sueve Mountains, simultaneously warding off the threat of extinction. That's why, for over 35 years, a festival has been held in its honor: to acquaint the public with it and to showcase its fantastic recovery thanks to the dedication of local breeders.
The setting for the Asturcón Festival is also an idyllic mountain landscape known as Majada de Espineres. There, an unforgettable day takes place in the heart of nature, featuring a little bit of everything: open-air mass, awards ceremony, branding and taming show, countryside feast, and lots of traditional Asturian music and festivities.
