Rice pudding festival

One of the sweetest festivals of the year comes on the second Sunday of May and takes place in Cabranes, more specifically in its capital Santolaya, coinciding with the festivities of San Francisco de Paula.

Sunday is the big day of these festivities and what better way to celebrate it than with the now famous Arroz con Leche Festival. There are many competitors in this competition, each with their own unique expertise and recipe when it comes to making the tastiest rice pudding in the world.

At the same time as the competition, a traditional market of handicrafts and food products is held. It is also possible to taste rice pudding free of charge throughout the morning, and to buy commemorative festival pots.

The entertainment, the music, the atmosphere, the neighbourhood tributes and the presence of the Rice pudding Brotherhood are some of the elements that make up a perfect festival for "llambiones" (sweet-toothed people), in the incomparable and panoramic setting of Santolaya. In fact, it is an ideal way to sweeten the spring.
