One of the sweetest fiestas of the year falls on the second Sunday of May and takes place in Cabranes, more specifically in its capital Santolaya, coinciding with the fiestas of San Francisco de Paula.
Sunday is precisely the Grand Day of these fiestas and there is no better way to celebrate it than with the famous Rice Pudding Festival. There are many competitors in this competition, each with their singular knowledge and recipes for making the tastiest creamed rice in the world.
Simultaneous with the competition, a traditional market of handicrafts and farm food products. It is also possible to taste creamed rice free of charge all morning, as well as acquiring commemorative tubs of the festival.
The animation, the music, the atmosphere, the neighbourhood homages and the presence of the Confraternity of Rice are some of the components which season a perfect fiesta for "llambiones" (sweet toothed persons), in the incomparable, panoramic framework of Santolaya de Cabranes. In fact it is the ideal way to sweeten the springtime.
