The best viewpoints to get a glimpse of paradise - Part II
We propose a journey through the four corners of the Asturian geography, from inland to the coast and from the coast to inland, to enjoy the best viewpoints to get a glimpse of paradise.
That Asturias is a paradise for all five senses is literally obvious. So, to make your mouth water, make you feel butterflies in your stomach and accentuate the sparkle in your eyes, we guide you to beautiful, unique places where you can peek into the Natural Paradise, enjoying unique landscapes, in those moments that will be unforgettable and even unrepeatable.
So, retina in hand, like Don Quixote with his inseparable lance, we propose a very visual journey through the four confines of the Asturian geography, from the interior to the coast and from the coast to the interior, or from the sea to the mountains and vice versa.
Are you ready? Let's get started!
Camarmeña, one of the best balconies to admire Urriellu
The Picu Urriellu or Naranjo de Bulnes, an iconic mountain, due to its history and characteristics, means much more than a complex summit. In reality, the Urriellu is a symbol of the Asturian mountain, of a natural ecosystem and of a vital culture.

There are many places to admire this natural work of art, and one of the most beautiful places to do so is the village of Camarmeña, in Cabrales.
Camarmeña is a simple mountain village, nestled between high peaks, with charming spots to contemplate the landscape, places to eat and sleep, an old church and incredible and different views of the Urriellu.
Cape Vidio, a viewpoint overlooking the sea
But it is not only between mountains or from the mountains that you can enjoy dream views. You will also have them if you head towards the sea. Because the Asturian coastline is a true marvel, both in the east and in the centre and west.
Precisely one of these magical places is on the west coast, in the council of Cudillero: Cape Vidio. A spectacular rocky promontory with vertiginous cliffs and a lighthouse.

The views are beautiful, both to the east and to the west, and to enjoy them, in the surroundings of the cape, you will have a bench, and you can also sit quietly on a rock, and contemplate the stillness or the fierceness of the Bay of Biscay.
Highly recommended at sunrise or sunset, which are unique.
Cape Busto, with Luarca/Ḷḷuarca in the distance
Cape Busto, in the council of Valdés, is one of those natural landmarks to be enjoyed with all five senses, especially the sight.
Cape and lighthouse form an interesting ensemble, full of charm. The surroundings of the cape are an ideal place to sit down - there are benches, tables and explanatory panels - and calmly observe the entire coastline that your retina will take in, which is a lot, especially on clear days.

There is also an interesting and easy circular route to get to know the village of Busto and all that surrounds it.
Don't forget to look carefully towards the west, because if the sky is clear, you will be able to see the Luarca/Ḷḷuarca lighthouse and the La Blanca hermitage in the capital of Valdés.
Viewpoint of Infanta Sofía: a royal vantage point to see the beauty of Somiedo.
Somiedo is a place full of beautiful places and beautiful views. There are also many viewpoints, and the last one that has been built is very special.
And it is so for several reasons, the first one because it has been designed and inaugurated on the occasion of the awarding of the Exemplary Village of Asturias 2021 to Santa María del Puerto.
In addition, the panels are dedicated to explaining the surrounding territory: the pasture meadows, the mountains and peaks with their names, and the surrounding flora and fauna.

The viewpoint is on the route that goes from Santa María del Puerto to the peak of El Cornón, passing through La Penouta. Specifically, it is leaving Santa María del Puerto towards El Cornón, in the place known as La Caleichina.
This is the only viewpoint in Asturias dedicated to the Infanta Sofia - second daughter of the King and Queen of Spain - and those who were present at its inauguration say that it was a real surprise for her, as she was unaware that this viewpoint bore her name.
Monteagudo viewpoint, a landscape of river and sea
The Monteagudo viewpoint is located in a privileged spot between Pravia and Somao, in the municipality of Pravia, and offers breathtaking views.

In the vicinity of the viewpoint there is a recreational area equipped with tables and benches. From this area, where you can leave your car, you approach the viewpoint by a short climb up a forest path through pine trees. From the top, among the trees, you will enjoy beautiful views of the mouth of the Nalón River into the Cantabrian Sea, San Esteban, L'Arena, and the island of La Deva, as well as a large part of the council to the south. Its surroundings are signposted and have an interpretative panel.
The Monteagudo viewpoint forms part of the Viewpoint Route by Car.
Forcichave Viewpoint, in the heart of a Biosphere Reserve
The Forcichave viewpoint is located in the Las Ubiñas-La Mesa Nature Reserve, one of the seven Biosphere Reserves in Asturias.

Located in the pass of La Cobertoria, just before reaching the pass, going up from the Quirós council, it joins the neighbouring and bordering council of Lena.
The scenery around this viewpoint is simply spectacular: the Lindes beech forest, Peña Rueda, the Gorrión mountain range, the Sobia mountain range, the Gradura mountain range, the peaks of the Agüeria mountain passes, etc.
Perriellos viewpoint, close to heaven
We can literally say that the Perriellos viewpoint is close to the sky, as it is very close to the route of the same name, and although it is not very high, it offers beautiful views due to its strategic location in the centre of Asturias, in the municipality of Sariego.

The route links the villages of La Vega de Sariego and La Campa in a linear fashion, and passes very close to the Way of St. James.
The Perriellos viewpoint, whether on foot or by bike, is an obligatory stop to contemplate the whole of this central plain of Asturias, with a glimpse of the Peña Mayor mountain range in the background.
La Collada viewpoint: the best views of the western massif of Picos de Europa
The Collada viewpoint, in the council of Amieva, is so called because it is located on a hill between the villages of Amieva and San Román.

From here you can see the entire valley of the village of Amieva, as well as enjoying excellent views of the western massif of the Picos de Europa.
Located at an altitude of 800 metres, you will be able to see the Ordiales viewpoint and La Torrezuela Peak, among other emblematic places.
This viewpoint has the advantage that it is easily accessible by car, and you can park nearby and enjoy the breathtaking views ipso facto.
Sablón viewpoint, one of the most beautiful on the west coast
The Sablón viewpoint is located on the western coast of Asturias, in an area of beautiful beaches and cliffs in the vicinity of the village of Oviñana, and only 15 minutes from the town of Cudillero, one of the most beautiful and touristy fishing villages in Asturias.

The best way to get to the Sablón viewpoint is to park at the Cueva viewpoint - also very interesting - which is only 5-10 minutes away.
Next to the car park you can see the Aldebarán, a fishing boat that serves as a monument in memory of those sailors who lost their lives off the coast of Cape Vidio.
Santesteba, to contemplate the Navia river
The Navia river and the landscapes it shapes along its course are deservedly famous for their beauty. On this occasion we take you to the Santesteba viewpoint, in the council of Illano, in the heart of western Asturias and in the heart of the Tierras del Navia-Porcía region.

Here you can enjoy impressive views over the river Navia, the Santesteba cliff and the villages that slope down the hill.
Nearby, you have the rural village of Santesteba, an example of the conservation of traditions in the broadest sense of the term, including architecture, in which the solidity of the walls is particularly noteworthy.
Coto Bello viewpoint: a unique view of the Cantabrian Mountains
The Coto Bello viewpoint is one of the great tourist and scenic attractions in the council of Aller. Located on the peak named after the Asturian cyclist Chechu Rubiera, it offers unique views of the Cantabrian Mountains and the Central Mountains.

In a 270-degree sweep, the Coto Bello viewpoint is a great balcony with a lot of history, as before being a tourist vantage point it was, until the 1990s, an open-cast coal mining operation.
With its panels, its nearby 'chigre', and its always lively atmosphere with hikers, cyclists, bikers and travellers from all over the world, Coto Bello is a landmark in the landscape, not only because of everything you can see from there, but also because it is the starting point or stopping point for several routes.
Campiellos viewpoint, a large window on the Redes Natural Park
Campiellos is a village in the council of Sobrescobio, in the Redes Nature Reserve. It has an accessible path (adapted for pushchairs and wheelchairs), which is a short route through a forest of chestnut and oak trees, culminating in a viewpoint with beautiful views. You will cover about 700 metres, with hardly any gradient. A comfortable and safe route for all ages and physical conditions.
On the route, known as Camín del Rebollal, you will also find a spring water source, which is always appreciated.

Once you reach the Campiellos viewpoint, you will be able to contemplate a wonderful landscape that includes the villages of Rusecu, La Polina, Villamorei, Soto, the reservoir and the Cuyargayos peak.
