As soon as you arrive, the first thing you notice is the Niemeyer Centre, a futuristic space designed by Óscar Niemeyer that looks like it's from another planet. Its large open esplanade is perfect for walking with your dog, taking photos, relaxing or simply enjoying the atmosphere next to the estuary of the estuary.

Crossing from the Niemeyer Centre along the footbridge that connects the two banks of the Avilés estuary, in just a few steps you are in the historic centre of the city.

From the city to the sea: a perfect ending for you and your dog

Ferrera Park is one of the most beloved green spaces in Avilés. With wide paths, garden areas, benches and even a French Garden, it is ideal for a relaxing walk with your dog. From there you can continue on to Calle Galiana, famous for its International and Fluvial Descent during the Carnival (or antroxu) festivities, its lively atmosphere and varied gastronomic offer.

The return route is just as attractive: go back along Calle Galiana, cross the Parche (the Town Hall square) again, and walk along Calle de La Ferrería and the Parque del Muelle, until you return quietly to the Niemeyer Centre.

And to round off the day? A perfect plan: by car, in just 30 minutes, you can get to Playón de Bayas in the council of Castrillón, one of the best dog-friendly beaches near Avilés.
