Along the route, the visitor discovers old mallets, active workshops and museums that explain the evolution of a trade that is still very much alive in the area.

The Ruta de los Ferreiros is a circular route that allows you to discover the rich artisan and metallurgical past of Taramundi, combining rural landscapes, traditional architecture and the history of ironworking. The route begins at the monument to Manuel Lombardero, on the outskirts of the village, and descends towards A Veiga de Llan, a village historically linked to cutlery, where there are still artisan workshops that perpetuate this trade.

From here, the path continues through meadows and woods to O Mazonovo, where the Cabreira and Turía rivers meet. In this place, there used to be a mill, and today there is the Museo de los Molinos, an ethnographic space where hydraulic devices and old milling and electricity generation systems are on display.

The route crosses the river Turía and enters a leafy forest that leads to A Veiga da Sarza, another enclave deeply linked to traditional forging. This village, which preserves a well-kept rural architecture, once housed a forge and several ironworks. Its recreational area, next to the river, offers a pleasant break in the route before continuing.

Crossing the AS-21 road with caution, the path ascends towards Pardiñas, passing through the villages of A Garda and Vilanova, where the knife-making tradition is still alive. In Pardiñas is the Museo de la Cuchillería (Museum of Cutlery), where you can attend a knife-making demonstration and learn about the evolution of the traditional workshops.

The last section of the route descends along an asphalted track with views over the valley, offering a panoramic view of Taramundi before the end of the route. Before arriving back at the starting point, the route passes by the church of San Martín, whose high 18th century tower is well worth a visit.

This route, ideal for lovers of cultural hiking, provides an insight into the role of water, iron and the know-how of generations in the rural economy of Taramundi.
