The path descends through chestnut and pine trees to the river Sangreña, where there is an old mill and the waterfall, whose waterfall forms a small natural pool surrounded by vegetation.
The route begins in the rural village of Faedo, whose name refers to the historical presence of beech forests (fagus). Although nowadays a mixed vegetation of chestnut, eucalyptus and pine trees predominates, remnants of the autochthonous forest that once covered the whole area still remain. Before starting the route, it is worth visiting the Church of San Andrés, built in the 18th century, which has a remarkable 17th century polychrome wooden altar inside, a testimony to the local religious and artistic heritage.
From the village, walk a few metres along the road until you reach a wide forest path that enters the forest. The descent is initially gentle, but as you go on, the slope becomes steeper. At the end, the path becomes a narrow path that shares a small stream, so extreme caution is recommended.
Finally, you reach the Sangreña River. Depending on the time of year and the flow, it is possible to cross the river directly to reach the waterfall. If this is not possible, from this bank you can see the mill and the waterfall, and you can even take a small detour to the left to go around the undergrowth and reach the point where the water falls from a height of several metres. In autumn and winter, the foliage can partially hide the waterfall.
The Gorgollón waterfall, although small in size, is visually attractive and is located in a quiet spot surrounded by vegetation. Its fall forms a natural pool, which makes it a very photogenic spot.
The return is along the same path in the first part, until it joins a detour to the right that leads to the upper part of the village, offering different panoramic views before descending to the starting point.

Basic tips before going into the mountains
- Avoid approaching livestock.
- If you find mastiffs protecting livestock, do not approach them, do not pet them and do not feed them. Do not allow them to follow you or stray from their herd. They are working.
- If you go with a dog, always keep it on a leash.
- Don't leave a trail. Collect all your waste, including organic waste. Nature is not a dumping ground.
- Act with prudence. Plan your route well, take everything you need and make sure it is adapted to your physical capacity.
