A quiet walk through meadows and a deciduous forest popularly known as El Foyoso. The route leads to the Molín de Peón, an old building that had several uses in the past and today houses a trout breeding centre.

The Senda Verde del Foyoso (PR242) is a low-difficulty route that can be covered in about an hour and a half between the outward and return journey. It has a difference in altitude of 20 metres and a maximum altitude of 650 metres. This route is perfect for families and hikers of all levels, although it is not recommended for pushchairs as it runs along a track.
The out-and-back route links the town of Felechosa with El Pino, along a pleasant path that allows you to discover the beauty of the landscape and the industrial history of the area.

The starting point of the trail is located in the town of Felechosa. Access is via the AS-112 road in the direction of Ujo-Puerto de San Isidro.

Once in Felechosa, the route begins by heading towards the bridge that crosses the river Braña. The path follows a comfortable route with hardly any gradient, offering a pleasant walk through extensive meadows and a leafy deciduous forest, popularly known as El Foyoso.

The path ends at a bridge over the river Valmartín, which must be crossed to continue the route. Shortly after crossing it, there is a recreational area on the left bank of the path, a perfect place to take a break and recharge your batteries.

From this point, it is already possible to see the Molín de Peón, the final destination of the route. This building, erected at the end of the 19th century, was used as a mill and fulling mill before being transformed into a small hydroelectric power station, which closed in the 1950s. Nowadays, it houses a trout hatching and frying centre managed by the "El Maravayu" Fishermen's Association.

The return to Felechosa can be done in two ways: the first is to return along the same route as on the outward journey; the second, as an alternative, is to cross the village of El Pino and take the royal road that will take you back to the starting point. The distance of the route, its low gradient and the presence of a recreational area make it an ideal option for enjoying Asturian nature in a peaceful setting.

Basic tips before going into the mountains

  • If you go with a dog, always keep it on a leash.
  • Avoid approaching livestock.

  • Don't leave a trail. Collect all your waste, including organic waste. Nature is not a dumping ground.
  • Act with prudence. Plan your route well, take everything you need and make sure it is adapted to your physical capacity.
