With a progressive ascent and medium difficulty, it is an opportunity to explore both the natural beauty of the councils of Aller and Laviana and the valuable industrial heritage of the region, highlighting the uniqueness of the Pozo San Fernando.

The route from Uriés to Campa Espinera (PR-205) is a round trip lasting about six hours. The difficulty of this trail is medium, with a gradient of just over 700 metres, leading to a maximum altitude of 1,030 metres. The itinerary is presented as an opportunity to explore the nature and industrial heritage of the councils of Aller and Laviana.

To begin the route, you must reach the town of Uriés. The most direct way is to take a detour from the AS-386 road, which connects Uxo with Cabanaquinta/Cabañaquinta. This section corresponds to the old route of the AS-112. The turning to take is signposted in the direction of Serrapio.

Once in Uriés, the route starts in the upper part of the village, where the main route of the green path begins. A short distance further on, you reach a crossroads where you can take a left turn that leads to Pozo San Fernando. This place is a fascinating testimony to the region's industrial heritage, and is notable for its unique small castle. Unlike most mining shafts, this one was used to lower the coal to the lowest level of the mine, from where it was extracted through a gallery known as the San Fernando shaft.

If you choose to visit the shaft, the way back to the main path requires you to retrace your steps back to the initial crossroads. Once there, continue along the track on the right. The route continues with a gradual ascent through densely wooded areas. On reaching the height of La Felguerosa, the path turns northeast and the slope becomes gentler.

The route continues to the Ablaneo pass, where the path heads south. Further on, at the height of El L.lamargón, the path turns northeast again, leading towards La Navaliega and the Cul.lá Caballos watercourse. At this point, we leave the council of Aller to enter the council of Laviana. The route continues without deviations through the Carba Bustaleo, ascending steadily until it reaches its final point: the Campa Espinera.

This route not only offers a pleasant walk through wooded landscapes, but also an enriching journey through the mining history of Asturias, revealing the traces of the region's industrial past and the historical connection between its different localities.

Basic tips before going into the mountains

  • Avoid approaching livestock.
  • If you find mastiffs protecting livestock, do not approach them, do not pet them and do not feed them. Do not allow them to follow you or stray from their herd. They are working.
  • If you go with a dog, always keep it on a leash.
  • Don't leave a trail. Collect all your waste, including organic waste. Nature is not a dumping ground.
  • Act with prudence. Plan your route well, take everything you need and make sure it is adapted to your physical capacity.
