The Alba Festival, in honor of the Virgin of Alba, the patron saint of Quirós, is celebrated every year on August 15th at the Alba Hermitage, located above the town of Salceo.
Nestled in the heart of the Aramo Mountains, at an altitude of about 1090 meters, it has good access through an asphalted track. This Hermitage, known for its devotion and history, offers spectacular views of the entire municipality of Quirós.
On the occasion of the Alba Festival, a procession takes place, accompanied by bagpipes and drums, and after the procession, a mass is held. It is worth noting that the mass is usually sung in the Quirosan language.
Afterwards, a countryside meal takes place, followed by various activities such as horseback ribbon races, the contest of spelt bread, the display of cow taming, etc. It is a complete ritual that is repeated successfully and attracts a large number of people year after year.
In addition, it is customary to camp near the Hermitage in the days leading up to the festival, thus celebrating the traditional popular festivities.
