- Title Tineo
- Address Locality: Navelgas
- Days Days: 1 September
- Type Type: Festivity of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias
The aim of the Day of the Peoples of Asturias is to contribute to the twinning and solidarity of the different Asturian peoples, to show what they have in common and also what is specific to each place. In short, to promote the feeling of Asturian integration and openness to the world.
Each edition pays tribute to a village in Asturias, which receives the Dove of Fraternity. Its people are welcomed in Navelgas with the affection and hospitality that are the hallmark of this village and, in general, of the Asturian rural world. Representatives and neighbours of the villages twinned in previous years, as well as other visitors and tourists, join in the festivities, creating a spontaneous atmosphere of joyful conviviality.
At the institutional ceremony, the Chosco de Oro, which symbolises two of our most cherished traditions, is awarded. It is awarded to those people and institutions that stand out in the promotion, dissemination and defence of Asturias.
The Silver Arándano is awarded to individuals or groups that stand out for their contributions in the fields of ethnography, folklore, gastronomy, music and other cultural manifestations.
The programme usually consists of a Reception for the Award Winners and Authorities, a Parade of Folklore Groups and invited groups, and the presentation of the Awards. The day is rounded off with lots of entertainment and other leisure and cultural activities.
