Route
El Fielato - Cuevas 9,5
The route starts at El Fielato, a group of huts located in Puerto de San Isidro, on the right-hand side of the AS-112 road.
From here we head towards the Braña riverbed, which we cross following the trail signs, and begin a slight ascent that takes us to Brañarreonda.
Here we find a fountain, from where the path starts, which leads us uphill to La Coḷḷá Beldoso. The path continues to the left of the pass, passing over the forest of hundred-year-old beech trees known as Monte'l Tuzu.
Passing through a rocky area and a rocky area leads us to the sheepfold of Fuentes de Baxo and to the secluded mountain hut of El Gumial. After passing this last point, we soon find ourselves immersed in the forest that gives its name to the route: El Gumial. A beech forest with a special charm, where it is not difficult to imagine the existence of mythological beings, always accompanied by the murmur of the water of the river Alba.
From here, we descend steadily along a track, leaving behind us the group of huts known as La Yana. We soon reach the bottom of the valley through which the river Braña flows, which we will have to cross to take the path that goes down parallel to the road until we reach Cuevas, the end of the itinerary.
ACCESS:
The starting point of the route is El Fielato, which can be reached via the AS-112 Uxo-Puerto de San Isidro road.
