A fairly easy trail between the boroughs of Caravia and Colunga

Summary Arenal de Morís - La Griega Beach

The trail starts in the car park at Arenal de Morís Beach and continues along the pavement of the road to Prado. After about 300 metres, you take a path to the right heading west. There are abundant meadows in this area of the coastal strip. The trail runs through the surroundings of La Tuerba and Los Remedos. It then crosses Los Romeros Stream via a footbridge before reaching the natural beach of La Beciella. There is a burial mound near the edge of the coast.

The trail continues west to La Forada Crag. On the way, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Moracey, La Espasa, El Barrigón and La Isla Beaches and the village of Lastres. There is also a beautiful panoramic view of the Sueve Range.

The path then continues on to La Espasa Beach. This section of the route runs along the seafront in La Espasa and ends at the beach car park, on the right bank of the mouth of the River Espasa, which divides the boroughs of Caravia and Colunga. At low tide, you can cross the stream along the sands; otherwise, there is a bridge on the road crossing the river. You will then immediately see a signpost for La Isla Beach.

Once at La Isla, take the PR As-196 route, running parallel to the coast, which leads to the village of Huerres along a narrow path. Just before you get there, you will see a turning on the right with a signpost for La Griega Beach. A steep climb leads to the highest part of the route, among eucalyptus trees. The trail then heads downhill to the scenic balconies and La Griega Beach, the end of the journey.
