This route, which starts in La Pola (Lena), links the passes of Alto del Cordal (788 m), Cuchu Puercu - Espines (1036 m) and La Cobertoria (1173 m), and offers an approach to the Sierra del Aramo along a very little frequented route of great beauty.

The ascent to the Alto del Cordal is a short climb, about five and a half kilometres, but with an average gradient of over 9%, which in several sections exceeds 11%. Its severity has usually been used as a prelude to other peaks such as the Angliru or the Gamoniteiro.

About a hundred metres before reaching the top of the Cordal, there is a turn-off leading to Espines - Cuchu Puercu, the road narrows and the asphalt at times is rough and bumpy on a route that is hard and demanding, with extremely tough ramps in the midst of lush nature and an increasingly rugged landscape.

The road connects with the ascent to the Cobertoria at the Valle de Peral recreational area, from where it continues along a tarmac in perfect condition until reaching the top of the pass, with privileged views of Peña Rueda, Las Ubiñas and many other outstanding peaks of the Cantabrian Mountains.
