The path starts in the recreational area of Tuñón, next to the Monument to the Bear, where after crossing the bridge over the river Trubia it connects with the path that comes from Trubia, about 7.5 km long and well prepared, so it is also possible to start in Trubia.
On the route we will pass through towns of undeniable charm such as Villanueva, with its beautiful medieval bridge, or Proaza with its emblematic tower (it is necessary to leave the path and rejoin it), we can visit the bear enclosures and approach the Bear Viewpoint, and cross gorges such as Peñas Juntas, always with the beauty of the valley of Proaza framing the route. Between the two villages is the Buyera recreational area, with a parking area, ping-pong tables and tables for outdoor dining.
The route crosses the river several times, and on reaching the Peñas Juntas gorge, the section becomes "aerial" with a route hanging over the river that we cross by means of several tunnels and trenches dug into the rock. It is undoubtedly an impressive and fun section.
The section ends shortly before Caranga Baxu, at the junction between the two branches that make up La Senda del Oso, the one that goes to Entragu in the direction of Teverga, and the one that goes to the Valdemurio reservoir in Quirós. Here we have the option of returning to the start, or continuing along one of the two options mentioned above.
This part of the Senda del Oso can be done independently, but it should be borne in mind that there is no public transport for the return journey, so we should consider making the same return journey, or contact one of the active tourism companies that offer their services in the area.
It can be accessed from Trubia and covers 7.5 km of local roads and tracks to Tuñón.
It can be done in sections.
The return journey should be planned.
