This route links the cities of Oviedo/Uviéu and Avilés and connects two of the major stage routes: the coastal route and the inland route. The routes into and out of both cities avoid the main roads with the heaviest traffic as far as possible, making use of local roads to create a pleasant and interesting route.

The route starts in the centre of Oviedo/Uviéu – specifically, in Plaza de La Catedral – and follows the streets and cycle paths that take you by the most direct route to the foothills of Monte Naranco, gaining altitude and winding its way along roads and tracks frequented by walkers and cyclists, through surroundings that, at times, become increasingly rural until reaching La Pedrera, where the route continues along the local road and, after crossing the River Nora, arrives at San Cucao.

The route continues along the local road heading north-west, passing by the Palacio de Villanueva, before reaching Carbayal and, shortly afterwards, Santa Cruz, in Llanera, where, a little further on, you take the turn-off to reach the village of Llavares. Just before the village, a short detour takes you to the Romanesque church of Santiago de Arlós, visible on the nearby hilltop and particularly interesting for the rich decoration of its façade, amongst other things.

The route continues with gentle ascents and descents until it joins the district road which descends to the vicinity of the Trasona reservoir, and from here, after a kilometre and a half of urban stretch with heavier traffic, you reach the cycle path that runs alongside a stark industrial landscape by the estuary, but as you proceed, the presence of trees and the increasingly close view of the Niemeyer Centre and the historic centre of Avilés heighten the anticipation of reaching the end of the route in this truly fascinating city.
