The first includes the urban and periurban environments of towns such as La Felguera, Sama, Ciañu, L' Entregu/El Entrego, Sotrondio, Blimea, and Los Barreros/Barredos, where the itinerary has largely been channelled along cycle lanes and roads suitable for bicycles, avoiding urban traffic as far as possible.

The route starts at the Sports Centre of La Felguera, and leaves no room for doubt: the derricks, mine entrances and auxiliary installations reflect the mining and industrial past of the basin, which can be seen by visiting the Museum of Mining and Industry of Asturias, or by visiting the Pozo Sotón.

Continuing along the second part of the route, starting at Los Barreros/Barredos and following the local AS-382 road, we leave the industrial landscape behind and enter a rural setting, reaching the peak of La Faya de los Llobos (650m.), from where we descend to the capital of the council, Martimporra. The high point offers stupendous views of the valley and the Peña Mayor mountain range.
