The route starts in the village of Sellañu, in the north of the council, and runs upstream parallel to the river Ponga for about eight kilometres. This section of the route follows a well-maintained road through the mountains until you reach the crossroads where you take the turn-off to Abiegos and Sobrefoz.

From here onwards, the road narrows, the surface of the asphalt is eroded and very bumpy at times, and it gains height as the valley opens up and the views left by some clearings in the forest allow us to see the village of San Xuan/San Juan de Beleño on the hillside opposite, until we reach the Foz del río Ponga and the village of Sobrefoz.

Continuing along the route, the stretch towards San Xuan/San Juan de Beleño is spectacular because it allows us to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings, finding a couple of viewpoints along the way, where the forests, predominantly beech forests, and the surrounding peaks with a complex geology of thrusts, fractures and folds, are shown in all their splendour. In San Xuan/San Juan de Beleño you will find the Interpretation Centre of the Ponga Natural Park where you can learn more about this unique natural space, a Biosphere Reserve since 2018.

From San Xuan/San Juan de Beleño, the route continues towards Collada Llomena, but before reaching it, take a well-marked detour along a cemented track towards Les Bedules, and from there along a dirt and gravel track to Collada Granceno, crossing a leafy beech forest and with the great peaks of Picos de Europa in the background. From the pass, the descent towards Viboli begins along a track that is a little bumpy at first but soon improves and reaches the Foz de Los Andamios to join the Desfiladero de Los Beyos road at Puente la Huera.

Continue along the N-625 road, now in the Concejo de Amieva, to reach Santiyán and meet the river Ponga again, take the crossroads, and continue along a flat and very pleasant route that leads to Sellañu to finish the route.
