Ruta de cicloturismo. De Colombres a Ribadesella

A route along the coastline along a route where the sea, the cliffs and the beaches are the protagonists, together with the fishing villages of Llanes and Ribadesella/Ribeseya with their well-preserved and interesting historic centres. Most of the route runs along gravel tracks in good condition.

The itinerary begins at the eastern limit of Asturias, in the small town of Colombres, and progresses to take us through the coastal plain with its gentle orography, fitted as a green corridor between the Sierra del Cuera and the sea.

Gravel tracks predominate along the route, and are complemented by local roads to run through a gentle relief that seeks proximity to the sea, and in which beaches and coves follow one another along much of the route, highlighting natural phenomena such as the Bufones de Arenillas or those of Pría, where the water surges with force and roars at the most agitated moments of the Bay of Biscay, or the inland beach of Gulpiyuri.

Strategic points such as the Regolgeru viewpoint (Pimiango) or the Andrín viewpoint frame the landscape and allow us to glimpse the essence of the coastal plain in all its splendour.

Throughout the journey, historical buildings reveal the brilliant past of the area from the 13th century onwards, which would be consolidated in the 15th and 16th centuries in the towns of Llanes and Ribadesella/Ribeseya, thanks to fishing and trade, as well as various monasteries and religious buildings. The historic centres of these towns are worth mentioning for their good state of preservation and their picturesque nature.
