This Natural Monument has no visible connection with the sea.
It is an inland beach, with no direct access to the sea. It is made up of white sand and salt water, but the Bay of Biscay is just a few metres away and only flows under the cliffs. It is about forty metres long and barely contains any sand at high tide. It registers a phenomenon known as a drainage when the low tide begins. It is listed as a Natural Monument.
Gulpiyuri has no services and is not accessible, as it is surrounded by meadows at a higher altitude. The nearest town is Naves and access is via a farm track.
Access to the beach both from the beach of San Antolin and from the village of Naves is pedestrian. Vehicles are not allowed.
If you travel with your pet you should know that...
- The access and presence of pets on the beach is prohibited from 01/06 to 30/09.
- In the case of abandoned animals wandering on the beaches, their owners will be responsible for them.
- Those who violate the prohibitions, or do not comply with the conditions set out above, must immediately leave the beach with the animal, at the verbal request of the Authority Agents or Rescue personnel, who will issue a report in order to investigate the appropriate disciplinary proceedings.
