Route no. 5 called "Bajo Nalón" is a periurban route, ideal for families, around La Pola Llaviana/Pola de Laviana, capital of the council, and the parishes of Entrialgo and Villoria mainly.
It starts at the Aula Didáctica del Molín de La Chalana from where you take a track heading east and, after crossing under the road, you pass next to the La Curuxera hydroelectric power station, a restored historical installation that is currently in operation.
Following the path, you reach Entrialgo and continue to Villoria, where you pass by the medieval bridge and the church of San Nicolás, crossing the town centre, next to the river Villoria and, at a certain point, join the Aldea Perdida path and return to Entrialgo. It is advisable to pay attention to the incorporation of the path to the road coming down from Canzana.
When you reach Entrialgo, you will see the house where Armando Palacio Valdés was born, where you will find the tourist office and a small museum about the writer and, in a parallel street, the house of the León family.
Continue across the road over the specially prepared footbridge and take the access between plots of land heading west to continue along the gravel track that runs alongside the River Nalón until you reach the El Sutu Industrial Estate and, from there, along an adapted walkway, to the La Sota mine, where the tragic accident of 1924 is commemorated.
Crossing the bridge over the Nalón, you reach the pump track, a good place to jump on your bike, and continue along the walk along a route in perfect condition, well ordered for pedestrians and cyclists to coexist, until you reach La Chalana Bridge, where you return to the starting point of the route.
