We leave Bustio, on the border with Cantabria, and take the AS-344 road towards Colombres, a town with great tourist attractions, such as the buildings built by the Indianos and the Archivo de Indianos. It is advisable to take a stroll through its streets, as the town has been declared a site of cultural interest in the category of historical site.
The route continues along the old N-634 road, passing through an area of great scenic beauty, where the high cliffs of Santiuste and the rasa de Pimiango stand out, as well as beautiful fine sandy beaches, such as La Franca Beach. We continue along the coastal rasa with unbeatable views of the coast and pass through the llaniscos villages of Buelna, Pendueles and Vidiago, with Indian and stone houses, whose corridors, full of plants, brighten up the visitor's view. Once we reach San Roque L'Acebal, we leave the N-634 and take the local LL-2 road to take a detour to the Andrín viewpoint and La Ballota beach, of great scenic interest.
We continue along the LL-2 road, passing numerous quiet and welcoming beaches on our right, until we reach the town of Llanes, where we recommend a stop to visit the medieval old town and the beautiful fishing port. We continue along the AS-379 road to Celoriu, and take the LLN-9 road which takes us to a multitude of beaches worth visiting, such as Borizu, Barro, the Ría de Niembro, Toranda, Torimbia, San Antolín (here we return to the AS-379 road), Gulpiyuri, declared a natural monument, and Cuevas del Mar. On this route, on our left, very close to the coastal rasa, we are accompanied by the impressive view of the Sierra de Cuera and behind, on clear days, the Picos de Europa.
We continue along the local road, passing through small villages, until we reach the Bufones de Pría, which requires a small detour that is certainly worthwhile, as we get to know this spot, which is particularly impressive at high tide and when the sea is rough. We reach the last part of the route, driving along a local road until we reach the historic town of Ribadesella/Ribeseya, the end of our route, whose historic centre is well worth a visit.
Respect the direction of traffic on urban sections.
The FEVE MD-R2 Oviedo-Santander line can be used for the return journey.
