The route begins with a short climb to the junction with the AS-35 local road, then descends through meadows and woodland until it reaches the far end of the Arbón reservoir; after crossing the River Navia, it climbs steadily all the way to Ponticella.

The road winds its way around rocky ridges facing north-north-east, which give way to steep-sided valleys facing the same direction, where small rural hamlets are situated; subsequently, descends to Puente Polea in Villayón, before climbing again to Alto Los Cändanos and, from there, reaches Alto de Brañúas in the Sierra de Burgazal, tracing a sort of rollercoaster route. Along the way, you pass by the Pímpano mill, a fine example of traditional architecture that reflects the strong connection with water, stone and wood throughout the area.

After the climb to the small mountain pass, all that remains is to descend towards Navelgas, passing through such beautiful spots as Burgazal. Following the valley carved out by the River Navelgas, you reach your destination, the village of Navelgas, home to the Gold Museum.

From Navelgas, the route to Tinéu follows the AS-219 and AS-350 roads, a distance of almost twenty-seven kilometres, and the route is included in the Luarca/Ḷḷuarca–Tinéu link.
