We leave Grandas de Salime on the AS-14 road towards Oviedo/Uviéu, descending towards the Salime dam, and enjoying the impressive landscape of the reservoir nestled between mountains. We cross the reservoir and begin a 12 km ascent to Berducedo. Berducedo is located on a small plateau at the foot of the peak of Buspol (1,121 m), in the surroundings of the Carondio and Valledor mountain ranges, and is a stopping place for pilgrims on the Primitive Way.

After passing Berducedo, we take the AS-34 road towards San Martín del Valledor, a very pleasant downhill route. We recommend stopping to admire the Valledor Tower, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. We continue along the AS-34, cycling parallel to the course of the Río del Oro. We leave this beautiful valley and enter another no less sublime one, that of the river Valledor, to begin the ascent, with significant slopes, for 15 km until we reach the top of the Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas pass. At this point we take the road to Monasterio de Coto and then descend to Cangas del Narcea, where we cycle another 28 km.

All the way down we will enjoy the landscapes of the Fuentes del Narcea, Degaña and Ibias Nature Reserve, the largest in Asturias, on the right hand side. The park includes the source of the Narcea river, the Muniellos river and the upper headwaters of the Ibias river. Its sparsely populated area and its abrupt relief preserve in good condition large native forests of beech, oak and birch trees, and it is one of the last habitats of the brown bear in the north of the peninsula.

Cangas del Narcea preserves an interesting historic quarter, the legacy of great families, such as the Palace of the Counts of Toreno, the Palace of Omaña or the palaces of Uría, Pambléi, Los Llano and Peñalba. The Basilica of Santa María Magdalena and the Chapel of Carmen, located next to the medieval bridge, in the traditional neighbourhood of Entrambasauguas, are also noteworthy.

Respect the direction of traffic on urban stretches.
