The route starts and ends at Oviedo/Uviéu RENFE station; follow the track until you reach the Fuso greenway, along which you’ll cycle through Les Caldes, where it’s worth taking a look at the Romanesque façade of the church of San Juan de Priorio, and we’ll continue alongside the River Nalón to Trubia.

In Trubia, we take the AS-218 road and, after crossing the river, we approach the Furacón reservoir. We then pass through San Pedru Nora, where we should stop to visit the pre-Romanesque church of the same name.

We carry on to Gallegos, where we take the AS-371 road and, after a few metres, turn left onto the medieval bridge, then, as we cross it, take the track to the left which leads us to Rodiella. We then enter the Nora river valley and continue alongside it until we reach Brañes, where we leave the river’s course and begin the climb towards Alto del Violeo. We continue by turning left to go round the Cerro del Capellán peak, and carry on with gentle ascents and descents until we reach the Cristo del Naranco.

From here on, it’s all downhill. We take the first track on the left to begin the descent – which is quite technical – past the Los Pastores spring, until we reach San Miguel de Lillo, a pre-Romanesque monument which, together with Santa María del Naranco, has been declared a World Heritage Site. We continue downhill and must stop again shortly afterwards to admire Santa María del Naranco.

All that remains is to continue down to the city, where the route ends.

The descent from Naranco to San Miguel de Lillo is quite technical
