The route leaves Avilés heading west along the CT-1 local road, close to the coast, passing through small rural villages and areas of meadows towards Salinas. We continue on to Arnao, where you can see the old mine with its distinctive headframe.

We carry on to join the SB-3 road towards Ranón. We follow this road until we reach the Muros de Nalón estuary, where we can stop to enjoy the scenery from Los Quebrantos Beach, before returning to the route to circle the entire estuary, passing by the marina. We then take the road leading to San Esteban, in Pravia, passing the Espíritu Santo viewpoint, and from there on to Muros de Nalón. From here, the route continues along local roads, passing several points of interest, such as the Aguilar viewpoint and the Palacio de La Quinta, home to the Selgas Fagalde Foundation, until we reach Cudillero, where, after enjoying the charm of this fishing village, we’ll continue along the road that circles the fishing harbour.

We continue along the CU-3, and at the roundabout we head towards Las Dueñas, passing through unspoilt countryside dotted with small rural hamlets (La Madalena, Artedo, Lamuño), until we reach the Salamir viewpoint, which offers beautiful views of San Pedro Beach.

We carry on to Soto de Luiña, where you can stop to visit the Church of Santa María, a former pilgrims’ hospital linked to the Way of St James. We continue along the N-632a road to the Oviñana roundabout, where we have the option of taking a detour to the Cabo Vidio lighthouse. On reaching Cadavéu, it is worth taking a short detour (barely 1.5 km one way) to the small Regalina Chapel, as the views of the cliffs from this spot are well worth the effort.

We continue along the route until we reach Cabo Busto, where we can either carry on or take a detour to admire the views from the protected landscape area at the headland (a detour of about 4 km one way).

The route ends in Luarca/Ḷḷuarca, a fishing village with a pretty fishing harbour and a full range of amenities.

Please observe the direction of traffic on urban stretches of road.

Take care when travelling to the beaches in summer.
