Public transport access plan to the Cares Route, the Bulnes funicular and to Tielve, Sotres and Collado Pandébano.
The Principality is once again activating the special transport plan for the Cares Route, the Bulnes funicular railway, Tielve, Sotres and Collado Pandébano. The aim is to protect the Picos de Europa National Park and reduce crowds in the enclaves with the largest number of visitors, especially in high season.

In 2026, the special transport plan will operate from 28 to 31 March, from 1 to 5 April, from 1 to 3 May, every weekend in May and from 1 June to 18 October.
Buses leave from Arenas and arrive at Poncebos. From there you can start the Cares Route, take the funicular to Bulnes or continue by bus to Tielve or Sotres.

Where to buy tickets and park vehicles
It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance through the ALSAS website, whichopens in a new tab. Only if there are still places available can they be purchased directly on the bus.
The car parks set up for this special arrangement are located in Arenas, near the bus departure point. In total, three parking areas have been set up.
In addition, between Arenas and Poncebos there is the Ovar car park, with 146 spaces, located 1.2 km from Poncebos, although its capacity is limited and does not guarantee parking availability. In the area of the Bulnes funicular railway there is another car park for the exclusive use of Bulnes residents and for the manoeuvring and boarding of buses.

Timetables and fares
Buses leave Arenas from 8:15 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00, approximately every hour. The first bus leaves Arenas at 8:15. All services stop at the Ovar car park and continue to Poncebos, where they change to continue on to Tielve or Sotres.
The journey between Arenas and Poncebos takes approximately 15 minutes. The last service of the day leaves Sotres at 20:00 and arrives in Arenas at around 21:00.
The bus between Arenas and Poncebos, the starting point of the Cares Route and access to the Bulnes funicular, with a stop at the Ovar car park, costs €1.55 each way (€3.10 return). The journey between Arenas and Tielve or Sotres costs €2.60 each way (€5 return).

Travelling with pets
The transport of one pet per journey is permitted, always in a carrier and provided that the animal is in good physical, hygienic and mental condition.
The bus has a carrier for animals weighing up to 35 kg.Duly identified guide and assistance dogs are exempt from this limitation. Once at the destination, dogs must always be kept on a leash. It is not permitted to carry them loose or to use extendable leashes.
