Llagar Castañón: Four Generations of Cider Passion in Asturias.
Info
Llagar Castañón, founded in 1938 by the Castañón family, represents four generations of cider production in Asturias. Since 2011 it has been operating in modern facilities, where it combines the artisan know-how passed down over time with innovative processes that reinforce the quality and authenticity of its cider production.
The guided tours allow visitors to learn about the complete process of natural cider with Protected Designation of Origin, from the arrival of the apples in the harvest months to the pressing, fermentation and bottling. The experience includes tasting cider directly from the barrel, a ritual characteristic of the Asturian cider world.
In addition to its natural cider, the cider maker has developed new references that extend the tradition, such as Roxmut cider vermouth, Xiz frizzante and La Bonagua ice cider. The latter, made with apples selected through a freezing process, is a unique proposal within the Asturian cider production.
