Vega d'Enol

Evento declarado Fiesta de Interés Turístico del Principado de Asturias

Cangues d'Onis/Cangas de Onís hosts La Fiesta del Pastor in the Vega d'Enol, at the foot of the Peña Santa, in the heart of the Picos de Europa.

An open council is held there, a traditional Asturian institution, which on this day brings together the municipal corporation and the council of shepherds to share out the pastures of the Covadonga mountain. During this meeting, the Chief Shepherd is elected. There is also a race in which the riders ride bareback, almost wild horses.

This event has been declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Principality of Asturias.
