Event declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias.

Cangues d'Onis/Cangas de Onís hosts La Fiesta del Pastor in the Vega d'Enol, at the foot of Peña Santa, in the heart of Picos de Europa.

An open council is held there, a traditional Asturian institution, which on this day brings together the municipal corporation and the council of shepherds to share out the pastures of the Covadonga mountain. During this meeting, the Chief Shepherd is elected. There is also a race in which the riders ride bareback, almost wild horses.
