A swim in a natural pool carved out of the rock
Small, with dark sand and shaped like a tombolo. This is Estaño beach, a semi-urban cove just five kilometres from Gijón/Xixón. Well-equipped and with strong waves, the left-hand side is recommended for swimming, although caution is advised due to the rocky seabed.
A highlight at Estaño is the Pozo del Cura, a natural pool carved out of the rock. Furthermore, in its western section lies the islet of La Tortuga. It is a sandy area well suited to diving and spearfishing.
Surfboards, jet skis, motorboats and sailing boats, etc., are prohibited in the bathing area.
