A beach steeped in tradition
Situated at the mouth of the River Cabra, it marks the coastal boundary between Llanes and Ribadedeva. La Franca is a triangular-shaped beach with white sand, moderate waves and a semi-urban setting, offering a full range of facilities. At low tide, it connects with other coves such as El Oso, El Viveru and Regorgueru.
It is easily accessible, which explains its high visitor numbers, although it is not overcrowded. It has a long tradition as a tourist destination dating back to the 19th century, when it was home to a seaside spa.
In the centre of the beach lies the islet of El Castrón, a regular refuge for seagulls.

If you travel with your pet you should know that...
- Pets are not permitted on the beach from 31 May to 1 October
- On seafront and urban promenades, in areas close to beach access points, pets will be permitted provided they are kept on a fixed lead no longer than one metre and, where necessary due to the animal’s characteristics, must wear a muzzle.
