Info
Picturesque landscapes that attract even Nobel Prize winners.
Portizuelo is a long, narrow, stony beach. Its uniqueness lies in the rock formations that dot the coastline with pointed shapes. One of them is the so-called Piedra El Óleo, named after the large number of painters who have immortalised it. It was also the favourite walk of the Asturian Nobel prize winner Severo Ochoa.
Access to Portizuelo can be made by two main routes. From Villar, a steep track leads to a nearby ancient cetárea. From Barcia, you can go directly to a meadow adjoining the sandy area.
If you travel with your pet you should know that...
- The access and presence of pets on the beach is prohibited from 01/05 to 30/09.
- Pets are allowed on the seafront and urban promenades, in the areas near the beach accesses, provided that they are kept on a fixed leash of no more than one metre in length and, when necessary due to the characteristics of the animal, they must be muzzled.
